Since
February of 1995, I've received a steady stream of questions
in regards to how well traditional Chinese medicine works for
a variety of syndromes and symptoms. This page reflects the
answers that have been written in response to these questions.
For any other questions,
just scroll on down this page. At the bottom is an e-mail link
that will allow your to write to me personally. If your question
is already answered on this page, please forgive me for simply
directing you back to what has already been written.
Keep in mind one
simple point. What is a disease process or syndrome according
to Western medicine does not necessarily exist in traditional
Chinese medicine (TCM). Because we look at everything very differently,
we have to begin with a chief symptom and go from there. For
instance, we don't have a treatment specifically for back pain
due to a nerve impingement or disc degeneration syndrome. We
look at the quality of the pain, what makes it better and what
aggravates it, where it is and how long it has been there before
we decide what is causing the problem and how to treat it.
I suppose that really
doesn't matter, all you want is relief. Fortunately, that's
basically all we do. Make things better.
That is Oriental
medicine. Welcome.
