Chronic Sinus Infection

Thank you,

There are a few possible ways of treating this. Acupuncture would likely be utilized mostly for the symptoms. Some needles inserted into the face or nose will open it up nicely.

That may sound a little challenging, but there are needles that we can use that are especially thin and reasonably comfortable for insertion into the face. Its okay. Personally, I find them much more comfortable than the needles inserted into the hands and feet. Many do, in fact.

Now, to treat the underlying cause of the problem, we might lean more toward herbal medicines.

First we have to determine why it is there, the chronic sinus infections. Often there is one of two things going on, both of which involve some sort of digestive malfunction or deficiency.

1) Poor digestion (often noticed by bloating, gas, loose stools, fatigue, easy bruising) gives rise to a deficiency of important items that the body needs to ward off infections. This would be typically a person with allergic issues.

2) Poor digestion giving rise to the accumulation of dampness in the body which is a sort of by-product of bad digestion. Dampness can accumulate and express through the nose leading to a chronic runny nose. You might be able to notice this pattern happening if you see that the sinuses drain more after a meal than before.

There are a few other causes for sinus infections, but these are the two key syndromes that represent a great deal of possibilities here.

Be well.
