Zhigou (English translation: Branching Ditch)
Location:
On the dorsal aspect of the forearm, on the line
connecting SJ 4 and the tip of the elbow, 3 cun above the transverse crease of
the wrist between the ulna and radius.
Classification:
Jing-River point of the San Jiao Meridian
Indications:
- Constipation
- Pain in the hypochondrium
- Deafness, tinnitus
Functions:
Regulates Qi, moves the bowels, clears Heat,
activates the meridian.
Notes:
SJ 6 is an
important point to use for treating constipation.
Jing-River points are where the qi of the
meridian begins to flow more heavily. They are known to treat cough and asthma
due to pathogenic cold or heat.
Needling:
Perpendicular insertion .8 - 1.2 cun. |
