Stomach 31
Chinese Name: Biguan (English translation: Thigh Gate)

Location:  On the anterior aspect of the thigh, on the line connecting the anterior superior iliac spine and the lower lateral border of the patella, level with the lower border of the symphysis pubis, in the depression on the lateral side of m. sartorius when the thigh is flexed.

Indications:

  • Muscular atrophy, weakness, numbness and pain of lower extremities, apoplexy, hemiplegia. (Bi-Syndrome and Wei Syndromes)
  • Coldness and pain of the lower back and knee

Functions: Frees obstructions in the meridian, dispels Wind-Damp, alleviates pain.

Needling: Perpendicular insertion 1.0 - 2.0 cun.
