Pulsynergy Made Easy Part I - Live CEU Course
Date: January 22, 2012
Pulse diagnosis has traditionally been revered as Chinese medicine's cardinal diagnostic practice by
many Chinese medical scholars. However, because of the difficulty in mastering pulse taking, pulse
diagnosis has unfortunately been reduced to confirming a diagnosis arrived by other diagnostic techniques,
rather than being a reliable diagnostic tool in itself.
Dr. Jimmy Chang, renowned pulse diagnostician and herbalist with over 30 years of innovative, clinical,
and practical experience, shows how to effectively utilize pulse taking to its full diagnostic potential.
Dr. Jimmy Chang is one of the very few clinicians who not only commands the knowledge, but who is willing
to impart the invaluable lessons of how to integrate TCM pulse taking into diagnosing western biomedical
conditions. Furthermore, Dr. Chang shares his thinking behind how he prescribes herbal formulations based
on both TCM and western perspectives.
In part I of this three part series, Dr. Chang explains the fundamentals of pulse taking, including the
precise cun, guan, chi locations, finger positions, and organ correlations. In addition, Dr. Chang covers
the Wu Zang Mai (Five Organ Pulses), the body's original 'normal' pulses, which represents the exemplary
physiological functioning of the body's organs; the Liu Qi Mai (Six Qi Pulses), the pulses which identify
distortions to the body's homeostasis due to exogenous factors, such as dryness, cold, dampness; and the
Liu Bing Mai (Six Pathological Pulses), the pathological pulses in accordance to a yin and yang framework.

Date: March 24, 2012
The practice of medicine is now at a crossroad: there are countless patients taking prescription drugs
who wish to be treated with a more natural approach. While many Western pharmaceuticals are effective, the

pharmaceuticals merely cover up the symptoms of the disorder, and does not address the root cause.
In this class, Dr. John Chen, recognized authority in both western pharmacology and Chinese herbal
medicine, author, and faculty of the USC School of Pharmacology and many TCM colleges, discusses the 50
most commonly prescribed medications, their actions, side effects, and herbal alternatives. You will learn
how to co-manage patients using herbs as an alternative to commonly prescribed drugs. You are also given
proper protocols for the time frames and herbal dosages leading to the safe reduction of pharmaceutical
