Q:
I have been diagnosed with a staph infection in my sinus cavity, and
conventional medicine has not very helpful. Is there anything I can do to
get my sinuses functioning normally again?
A:
A staph infection is a serious
condition that requires attention because Staphylococcus aureus, the
most common virus residing on our skin, is often the most resistant and
hardest to deal with. There are several traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)
herbal products and prescriptions that have shown to be effective in
inhibiting staph infections. Consult a licensed practitioner to determine
which one can best suit your specific condition.
I also suggest a regular steam inhalation therapy with baking soda. This is
to soften and moisten the tissues within the sinuses to prevent further
damage. This is how you do it: add two table spoons of common baking soda
into a pot of boiling water (being careful not to burn). Cover up and place
your head over the pot at a comfortable and safe distance and inhale the
steam.
