Dry Eyes
I suffered for 3 years with excruciating dry eyes
and only what I could term "insomnia." Only I had no trouble falling or staying
asleep, but I couldn't fall into a deep sleep. I spent most of my life hiked up
on caffeine and rushing home to sleep at 6pm and would wake up feeling totally
unrefreshed. My dry eyes were so painful I literally had to peel my eyelids off
my eyes. I visited countless doctors and even a dietician - but nothing worked.
I decided as a last resort (having no faith at all) that acupuncture might help.
I had 3 treatments and felt no better but my acupuncturist said she could
clearly see what was wrong with me, but that it would take a long time to get
better. I kept going for treatment mainly because she was the only person who
acknowledged I wasn't well. But to my amazement, after 14 treatments with daily
herb treatments, I got better overnight. I was also amazed that the insomnia,
dry eyes and a host of other symptoms I hadn't really thought of consciously
(e.g. eczema, mental agitation) disappeared at the same time.
I have now been well for a year and as a result am now studying acupuncture.
When I heard the lecture on yin deficiency (my pattern of illness), it brought
tears to my eyes.
For anyone who is suffering from strange symptoms, where doctors have little to
offer you, consider acupuncture. It literally made the difference to make my
life worth living again.
